Flare disposal

Anyone know where to safely dispose of out of date flares in the Portsmouth area? I have spoken to Solent coastguard and they have one day each month (midweek) when they take them. For those of us still working this is a bit inconvenient.
They suggested Mayday Marine in Portsmouth but the number is out of order, (gone bust?)
Anyone got any bright ideas

Not Portsmouth, but the marina local police station took mine. try giving them a phone call.

The police on the IW take them - in the "Lost Property Office". As they are part of Hampshire police, try your local police station.
