I am going to take a picture of his boat in the morning and post it if you all think that I should?????

Yes post it, if it was dark and he thought no one was around perhaps it was understandable but an apology should have been immediate and unprompted.
f- of or similar when challenged was totally unacceptable.

Report to the marina manager too, need to get people like this out of marinas asap.

An incident like that would be enough to stop my wife/daughter ever returning to Lyminington Yacht Haven but then she does favour Berthon where we havent witnessed any lude acts or pedos .

Yet another good reason to stay out of marinas. :D

FWIW, I often take a stroll round the decks to check all is well before snuggling down for the night. If dark & lonely (as most anchoarges are) then a wee over the side is not an issue, as long as I keep hold of the boat with my other hand.

I wouldn't do it in a well lit Marina tho, far too many prudish MoBo owners about who might decide to assault me. Very intolerant & aggressive these marina dwellers, perhaps it's cos they are all crammed in together like on Council Estates.

Sorry, but in the scale of things, no-one was injured, 2 people were embarrassed, one was relieved. I shan't bother holding the front page for the details.

If you want to take your donker out then I agree

Unbelievable, you claim a genny is unsociable when your are relaxing in your cockpit but think toileting/exposing yourself in view of my family is acceptable , this must be a wind up surely

Thanks, much appreciated :)

I feel a scowl would suffice
:)

Not often I dont agree with your postings Searush and not wishing to fall out but feel in this day and age it isnt really acceptable to toilet in public view.

If I have misunderstood your post and you are talking about slashing over the side out of sight then I apologise profusely for getting the wrong end of the stick and I am relieved :)

Dark and lonely tends to imply that there's no one around to see (that'd be the 'lonely' bit) and that even if there were someone around they wouldn't be able to see due to the lack of light (that'd be the 'dark' bit).

So, by the use of careful deduction together with an intimate understanding of the English language, it seems to me that Searush is indeed talking about 'slashing over the side out of sight'.

Ok Accepted if thats the situation.

I was thinking quiet dark anchorage 3-7 other boats where we sit on the flybridge in the evening with bubbly / G&T in the dark , just the daughter's music playing, when sat in the dark its surprising how your eyes adjust and how far our decorative blue lights illuminate other boats .

must be a sarf coast thing , all this talking of pee , wouldnt happen up on the east coast :rolleyes:;)

Agreed, coming from the East coast myself too thats most likely why I am so shocked by the practice.

I was first introduced to it mid English channel when a boat I was cruising with just stopped and called me on the VHF, they call it a ' comfort break ', I had no idea what my crew was about to be exposed to, they just stopped and let it dangle over board

FWIW - I was stood next to my boat, running a power cable along it right next to a big light. I didnt just peep my head out in order to have a moan.

Oh, and the quy in question was on a 40ish foot yacht which I am assuming would have a perfectly good loo inside and if not the marina facilities are approximatly a 60 second stroll away.

Sandyman, for fear of being pee'd on, please remind me never to tie up next to you in a marina!

The fact that you call it a ''loo'' explains a great deal.

there does seem many that are on the side of this chap. I feel peeing over the side (ala searush) when you are anchored on your tod (as you are probably banned from marina's (ala searush?:D) is reasonable if you don't have a "heads" or perhaps have one of those godforsaken portapottys... I owned and raced a J24 for a few years, so I do have experience of bucket and chuck it.. The issue is doing it in such a public place, especially when he would have had a perfectly good "heads" is just very basic behaviour. Those that defend are probably happy with that level, and I guess nobody died.... but my standards are higher and for that I don't apologise.

One thing everyone is missing is that it is Illegal to expose yourself in public. I wouldn't be too chuffed if some random bloke started waiving his wanger at me either.:confused:

If you think there is nothing wrong with getting your tackle out in front of random strangers then i honestly feel you have some serious issues:(

While I agree that taking a pee off the side of your boat in a marina is totally unacceptable I feel different rules apply when at sea. A yacht sailing upwind will be heeling over at around 40 degrees, if you are in full foul weather gear it can require a Houdini like act just to get the required layers removed especially if the boat is racing and could tack at any moment. It is not only easier, but also safer to pop the little captain over the side, even if other boats are in the vicinity.
