Hi,

Thinking of re-covering all the bunks and seats with new covers in my Jaguar 24. Anyone know of a good supplier of moisture proof, flame retardant material that is good for this purpose? Thanks.

This chap recovered my Rival 41C cushions. He supplied the material and fitted. The important bit is that you request that the labels for the material that states that it is fireproof are sewn onto all cushions. You don't have to do this, but that is where it gives some validity for insurance reasons if that is relevant (for coding it is).

If you send the cushions to him he could re-cover no problem in his workshop. A very skilled person, a master upholsterer and runs the courses for apprentices in this trade, good job done on my boat. Although he is not a 'marine' trade, he has done a few boats over the years and recommended a suitable material that would not be affected by damp.

I have no connection except as a satisfied customer (he has covered settees, chairs for me and other family members); worth a call in my opinion.

There was a lady over at Dyce that did this sort of thing but that was 20 odd years ago and I cant remember her name anyway.

Think you will find that all the suppliers of materials for boat cushions use flame retardent materials as they have been a legal requirement for years. See Toomer and Hayter for a wide range.

Thanks
