on SB side is the Italian courtesy flag
on P side we have the Captain / Belgium flag
(sorry for the old and poor quality of that flag, all flag stores ran out of Belgium flags, wonder how that come)

on the bow is the only place left for the sardinian flag,
is that good enought flag etikette ?

I love the huge platform.... feel very privileged to have been able to make use of it on the dive cruise :)

Glad your holiday is going well Bart, but this has got to be one of the shortest cruise reports ever....:D

As part of provincial Italy, and as you already have an Italian flag, do you even need a Sardinian flag?

"Need" is definitely too strong, but for some reason it's pretty common in Sardinia to see boats flying the four moors flag together with (if not instead of) the IT one. Otoh, flag etiquette is very relaxed anywhere in IT, Sardinia included, so the only suggestion I can give to B is to do whatever he likes! :D

Btw, as a courtesy flag, the correct version is the plain IT tricolour, NOT defaced with the shield of the four maritime republics - which is the one B seems to be flying, though I can't tell for sure from the pic. Anyway, also in this respect, most of the courtesy flags that you see around are the defaced ones, for the very simple reason that they are easier to find at chandler stores…

when we came back from Bonifacio, I asked E to change the courtesy flag, she came back showing the IT flag with the four shierlds, asking me: is this good enough, that's all i can find ... ;-)

talking about flags,
do you know who can carry this ensign ?
just leaving the marine while I type.

Looks like a Belgian naval ensign.
Blimey P, how did you know?
I just tried a reverse search based on Belgian+naval+ensign, and based on the results I believe that you are spot on.
But I would have never guessed that!

that was MY ALPA, with our king ALbert and PAola onboard,

there was some controverse in B at the time when he boaght her,
first because he didn't buy in Belgium from the single yard we have : 'Vennekes"
and secondly because she is crewed by the B army

And on the back you have the best flag of all;)

When I was moored in Sardinia for 3 seasons I deliberately decided not to fly the 4 Moors flag. For me it is a symbol of Sardinian separatism and therefore disrespectful to the host country, Italy. It would be like flying the Flemish flag when entering a Belgian port
