Fjord 880 AC

Good luck with the survey. Most of the time you'll not need the vhf until you are downstream from Tedders. Likewise Nav is mostly tidal heights + pilotage until you get beyond Southend. Tideway can get pretty busy but almost nothing compares to Windsor on a sunny BH weekend:-)

With AF's help I have managed to find the TMD41A engine on the volvo penta database.. v.useful..

Problem; Boat age is advertised as 1984 - engine production run started 1986 with no mention that it has been re-powered..

HP is stated at 200hp which is either 100 per engine or 200 per engine.. The TMD41a produces 150 per engine and the TAMD41a produces 200hp per unit.. Should this data really be correct? Does the broker have a duty of care to check this stuff? Am I being way too pedantic?

ok.. First blatantly obvious fact is that the engines in the Fjord are 4 cylinder not 6 so NOT 41a's.. Anyway, I have now been assured they are TMD31a's

Can anyone advise on how good an engine the TMD31a is? Anything I should look out for?

This is hard work considering I was relying on the broker to get this stuff right my eyes have been well and truely opened.

Ok... TAMD30a's x 2 110hp 4 cyl are they any good? Read a few overheating issues etc but otherwise?

Does anyone know a good Marine engineer that would take a good look at these engines for me and give me a thumbs up down? The boat is in Bray and I am really starting to get cold feet with this.. As a first foray into the market the rose tinted glasses have fallen off and are currently in bits on the floor.

Thanks mate but they cannot "look" at an engine because if they offer a professional opinion, they can be litigated on it and they don't have the insurances. Of course they don't know me from Adam so I cannot expect them to take the risk that I might hold them to it.. despite me telling them what a great guy I am... :D
