I recently spend three days on a Fjord 48 and was quite impressed by the handling and open space. Can anyone give me a opinion on the quality of these boats, design, value for money, similar brands and any other inside info they might be happy to share?
Thanks

V high quality using the Uk big 3 as a yard stick .
Poor VFM -Scandinavia Fx rate ? Not much you can do .
Fab Design
A bit lightweight 14K kg ,s --- like to know why how it's built -kinda long term durability lingering worry ,maybe wrong ?
Other 14-15 M opens are 17 K Kg
IPS ---great for handling and fab under warranty --but out of warranty -think residuals - and ongoing Vp maintenance by the book - plus side quiet and ecomonic diesel comsuption ,but offset by greater annual maintenance -and potential for unscheduled down time and expense from a VP guy with a lap top !
Ips has polarised opinions , so say even at 50 /50 -you have lost 1/2 your market ,70 /30 only 30 % of x left or take a hair cut to get out @ 5-7 y old.
IMHO -not convinced --- but a few newbies will be hooked by the joystick and if it takes a only a few -then its a success .

Most famous similar boats are Van Dutch, Evo, Wally, and Blue Game.

Blue Game is more traditional looking build at Sanlorenzo but has a nice hull by Lou Codega. (owner is Perrotti brother).
AFAIK Blue Game invented this genre when they launched Luja in 2003.
The 40 has ZF Zeus pods and they have a 50 in project stages. Nowadays build to order which is IMO a good thing and they are very customable.

The Bluegame are an interesting take on the traditional, reminds me of the boats everyone used to cruise around Long Island in the 70's. The Fjord joystick control was good, Volvo I think, I was in the Adriatic, so used them quite a bit pulling into little islands. I'll read up on the Zeus.

All pod drive boats offer joystick. So its a standard feature with IPS or ZF Zeus pod drive boats.
In reality the first joystick boat though was the Hinckley (combination with jet drives) in late nineties and then Azimut offered it on 68S in 2003 as optional if you go for a full bow stern thruster option.
