Has anyone out there taken a fjord 27 across the channel. or round the coast ? Having recently bought one I'm interested to know how they handle. I've been out before with a bigger twin engine but not crossed the channel with a single ! I'm hoping to do about 10knots, possibly more downhill. It has a rather elderly volvo 106hp . Any input appreciated.

If engine is good, no problem ... The Fjord has a seakindly hull.... but please do not push that old MD32 please... top warps very easily, so go gently warm-up please and do keep her at least 400 rpm below max.... preferrably more..

Took mine around the Solent last year, lots of fun (mine has a nice fat AD41 though), previous owner who is a stalwart of these forums used her extensively around the coast.

Oft underated boat imho

They imported several models from 24 to 30 feet into this country from the late seventies for a number of years, and have always been regarded as 'good property', and quite sound in open water. Nice flare in the bow and a deep fore-foot.

They do seem to be very nice boats.
There was a twin engine option available, but I guess the single engine version was more popular.
Here is an old catalogue from the late 70's which I scanned some time ago for a forumite who owns one.

That was ME (c: - and I think you forgot to send it or it got lost in the post but I didn't want to complain!

Instead, here's a couple of pics of my 27 to show how remarkably accurate the brochure is...

Ha, stalwart here!

Had one out in F6-7 in the lumpy bits off Beachy Head. I was a lot more unhappy about this than the boat. Took a couple of green ones over the bow and all fine.

Getting in and out of the main saloon can be an exercise to be done with care if its lumpy.

This the end - my friend - the end

With apologies to the doors. Yesterday my 27 went up in smoke - IN MY DRIVEWAY!
