Apologies in advance that my DIY incompetence becomes a request for help...

Trying to do my own boat fixes at the moment as I am richer on time than I am cash.

The full width rubbing strip that runs across my transom is coming away - both the rubber and the retaining rail.

Is this a simple thing to glue back in place? There's no obvious screws. If so, is Silkaflex the answer?

Many thanks!

I think that the rail will be screwed into the transom, and the rubber strip should feed into the rail. If the rubber has started to perish due to ozone or other decay, then you may need to buy a replacement. This will need heating before feeding into the rail to make it easier to fit.

I also think the rail should be screwed to the transom maybe this is why its coming away ( lack of screws). to refix the fixing screws can be self tappers but A4 stainless steel and long enough to hold the rail but should not pierce through the hull .......but I have no specific experience of your make and model of boat

As a temporary fix, is it ok to silkaflex the rail back, or will that not work?
I would not personally do this as it will be a problem to redo properly. What is wrong with popping in a few screws? If the original holes are too large, then drill new ones and pop screw in a stainless screw. Make sure you use some sealant to seal the hole too, or you will find water ingress a problem in due course.
