Freak weather,wind and wave conditions piled up over a meter of foam that they got swept into... horrifically tragic.

My current work colleague knew these guy's, and attested to their experience and ability. He's absolutely gutted at this, and blames a fierce undertow that can exist there for probably causing this tragedy.

i had never considered foam being an issue before - but they would drown unless they could get their heads above it. terrible.

The coast guard used a helicopter to try and clear the foam so they could find the people. Horrific.
