Five reasons to buy a boat

1) It’s the most efficient way of disposing of one’s disposable income.
2) There are no traffic jams. (Well, not where I sail)
3) You can be uncontactable, and even if you’re not everyone thinks you are.
4) You know you could simply sail over that horizon if you really really wanted to.
5) There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much doing as simply messing about in boats.

I have many reasons. The top of them is that their are many places you can visit only by boat. OK some can be visited by charter transport but there are so many places it would be very expensive. A boat can visit without the hassle of seeming impossible routing.

Also the usual reasons apply but for me the fact that a boat does not have a bloody lawn to mow and neighbours complaining about the long grass is way up there.

No, but instead complaints are about anchoring too close, unfrapped halyards dinging away loudly, tenders going too fast near swimmers, strobe lights as anchor lights, loud music until dawn, pooing straight into the water near swimmers, sparks flying from barbecues upwind of you, horrible blue lights in the water, and of course, unforgivable anchor bouys.

I come back to London to feel alone again.

They are a place to sit drinking chilled champagne whilst waving to the poor people.
Prefer beer! In the 70s we used to fly UTA from Luanda to Paris. Going from the mozzie infested dept lounge in to the air conditioned luxury of a DC10 we would be offered a free glass of champers, we always asked for a beer!
