He should put in a bid for the shipwreck...
Already mentioned the Bristol Arms to Dave.
Believe he may be being poached elsewhere.......
Patience one and all. Clouds, linings etc.
The Shipwreck was awful on Saturday.
I am so going to nick that one
Thanks to Lisa for the heads up on this thread, and as some of the story has gone to print I'm able to say a little bit more
The pubco who own the building have been playing dirty ever since we moved in, what with delays in planning applications then fag packet applications, through to the supply of beer, but somehow we managed to get the place going and still gained a high reputation on TripAdvisor. So then they decided to sell the business we had built, so I understand from the person who claims to have been the purchaser.
Well GK decided to 'persuade' us to leave by first sending in one of the worst area managers I've ever met, to tell us that if we didn't move out voluntarily, they would file for eviction. From what I gather this is standard practice, and most people cut and run when they try it on. We didn't so they had no choice but to use the proper methods
Weeks later it finally arrived before a judge, but in the meantime we had a call from a Brewery asking us to do them a favour and do what we do on the food side of the business, in one of their pubs where the landlord was retiring after twelve years.
Well, within days we had a meeting with the estate director, and two other high profile members of the board of directors, including the daughter of the owner of the brewery. We were suitably impressed by what they had to offer, and decided to accept it. Five days later, the outgoing landlord retired, and yours truly became the landlord.
While all this was going on, the pubco court action did not go all in their favour, and the court refused to evict us. But obviously with all the trouble GK caused it was decided that we would hand over the building and pursue them for compensation for all the work we've put in. Unfortunately a lot of the work has been done without invoices so we still have a battle ahead of us, but on the plus side, my new pub is in a prime location for what we do
Sorry about the shipwreck, but thanks everyone for your thoughts, another long hard battle to get this place going the way we want it to, but things are looking good from here
Jeeze, don't remember writing that much ever, hope it makes sense
Stand by for new thread, and yes, Duncan, your services at the launch would be most welcome![]()
All the best Dave, you both deserve it
+1 from someone who really appreciated your previous incarnation.
