I've just bought myself a small boat (Fletcher 21 with 150HP Mercury outboad + Trailer).
The boad needs fitting out. (i.e. I have nothing else)
I intend to use the boat (from the trailer) for taking the family out
(Poole area) fair weather mostly. Don't intend to do any waterskiing and such.
Given a not unlimited budget, what should be my order of purchases and
what are essentials.

1/ Life jackets.
2/ Radio.
3/ flairs
4/ A chart.
5/ GPS.
6? A compass.
All these should be bought before you venture onto the sea. And know how they work..

No one can force me to come here-----------

1) Lifejackets - use the link above for shopping and order the blue ones they are nice.
2) Moring ropes.
3) Aux engine say about 4-5hp - in case the main one breaks down
4) Anchor - so you can pull yourself off the mudflats !!!
5) Chart of Poole as the water gets damn shallow in most places.
6) Bottle of wine and glasses.
7) Sun tan lotion (no forget that)
8) Hey forget the lot - you said Fair weather boating - no chance this year.

My phone number to invite me down to drive it !!!!

Where does one start, er... insurance for one. Life jackets and all the usual safety gear and round Poole i would add echo sounder vhf and the list goes on and on(within reason). You dont say if its your first boat, if it is a bit of tuition would,nt go amiss. I base my boat in poole for the summer so might see you there. Good luck with it.

Wha'dya mean "I'm always playing with this engine" its the only way to get it to run!
