I've been searching the web a little while and can't find any specific information on this.
Has anyone fitted oil pressure + temperature to a yanmar 1gm10?

I'm trying to workout what senders etc I'll need and how to fit them, since I have an oil pressure warning light there must be a sensor already but is it suitable for a gauge rather than just a simple on and off warning?
Hopefully someone will have done this before :D

One question, Why
my previous engine a 4108 had a full set of gauges, the new engine a Nanni 4150 had a temp gauge and all other items are via audio alarms. i have found this to be adequate in the past 1000 hrs.

You need a "T" piece adapter to allow you to fit the oil pressure gauge sender and the warning light sender on the same outlet hole. You need to know what thread the block is. It could be metric or UNF and could be BSP. It could be straight or taper (BSPT) and could be NPT (I'm never sure what that one is).

Temperature senders are usually fitted in the sump. You can get adaptors for the sump plug to fit them in.

I've just been through all this. I ended up getting 5 adapters from a seller on ebay. It was cheaper than getting a single form elsewhere. (£5 postage free) He was very helpful on the phone, then I ordered from his website.

No hesitation in recommending him http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Hydrafit?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

I fitted a mechanical oil pressure gauge to my last boat fitted with a 1GM10. I just removed the oil sender from the engine, fitted a tee piece in it's place, fitted the sender in to the tee piece and used the spare connection for the oil pipe to the new gauge.
With my new (to me) boat with a 2GM20 I first fitted a digital pressure gauge with a tee as before, but the readings were very erratic possibly due to a faulty sender or unit so I replaced it with a mechanical gauge.
I like to keep an eye on these things and hopefully to get early warning if something is going amiss.

Just because they don't fit them to some new engines doesn't mean it's better. can you believe they don't even fit spare wheels to some new cars now  :)

Thanks for the quick replies!
Sailorman: Its because I'm nosy! I like to see whats going on, and by monitoring oil pressure you can see potential faults that might not have sounded an alarm because the pressure is still within an acceptable range.

I've done some research of the workshop manual, and apparently its better to get the secondary oil pressure rather than the primary. The primary is measured where the sensor for the warning light is, the secondary should be taken off the lubricating oil pipe connector.
I'll have a look at that ebayer, thanks!

I fitted some to a 3GM.
I used electric gauges from Merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe.
