Fitting of gas cylinder supply,

Vic's is that cooker with back and sides fed from a gas bottle, I guess it is as i haven't found one yet that runs on gas cylinders.

In reply to VicS reply, Pandora's are very cheap, but offer a lot, well built, not a lot of space but planed out well. Easy to maintained, could write a small book on what I have done to mine. Any way that's for another time, I will use some Aluminum sheet to line my cooker opening

In the second pix from the top you will see a gas cock

It runs from a 907 Camping gaz cylinder in a gas bottle locker located in one of the cockpit lockers. (About a metre away)

First pic shows the old cooker

Second pic the cooker space

third the new cooker as bought

fourth after removing the side screens and the lid/back (I believe there may have been a version available without the windshields but this is what the local camping shop had)

fifth installed

Since then I have covered the opening in the LHS of the base.

I believe the gas locker must vent overboard, and that means downhill, which is very difficult to achieve. In myJaguar 23 I put the Calor bottle in a locker in the forward anchor well. This already had vents so it worked. Internal pipework should be rigid, i.e.copper, and I thought it advisable to put some bits of plastic tubing over the copper wherever it passed through a bulkhead, to avoid chafing. Only the last bit to the appliance should be flexible. With some careful planning you should be able to get a run of 8mm copper with no joins in it. The other invaluable device, which gives peace of mind, is a bubble detector next to the bottle. When you turn the gas on you can instantly tell if there has been or is a leak downstream, so you don't go into the cabin smoking a cig!

The purpose of the various rules relating to gas lockers is to reduce the risk of leaking gas accumulating inside the boat. If you use a portable gas cooker instead you really need to consider the risks as you are moving the cylinder or cartridge into the accommodation.
