Looking to fit a cooling plate to the existing cool box. Any sugggestions for the best location of the compressor ?

Thank you in advance.

Not the same boat, but our galley is to port also and the fridge compressor is to the rear of the port side cockpit locker. Works well, but if you do fit it there be careful when stowing fenders and the likes as the unit requires a reasonable amount of air circulation around it. All in all worth the effort, having had boats with and some without a fridge, I really wouldn't want to go without now. Time/money well spent.

G'day Akela,

Also keep the compressor well away from your sleeping area, though not loud, they tend to start - stop at odd times.

As said, they also like some air flow to cool the compressor that can get very hot soon after starting.

I'm about to embark on the same project.

Having read all the bumph I'm aiming to install mine near the hull below the waterline. Apparently in Summer the cooling affect of the sea water is more effective than ventilation - and Summer is when you need it most.

In our Moody 31 the best place seems to be in a cupboard under the coolbox against a bulkhead. Naturally this is awkward to get to and will require me to spend a weekend with my head in a cupboard. BTW I've made a plywood bracket to allow me to mount it to a vertical surface - I believe you can buy a metal thing to do the same.
