Thanks for the update.

I certainly will! Maybe the change in boost pressure that you must get by a few psi even when cruising will keep it awake? You can get some “stationary” tpms systems that stay on all the time but they are a few hundred quid. I was wondering if the sensor could be modified to stay on all the time. We shall see!

Another option is this http://www.transducersdirect.com/pr...re-transducers/wireless-pressure-transducers/

Again, not that cheap and needs an app. I don’t think you can see 2 sensors at the same time with those either.

Maybe but I assume that would then drain the battery?

No doubt it would. The stationary systems reckon a 9-12months. Even if it was 6 months....that would be ok.

I’ve no idea if this is going to work but worst case, I have a valve on the boost side that I can connect any tyre pressure type gauge to....and a tpms system to give as a Christmas present :)

Endless possibilities.

- steering pressure ( fairline have pressurised system - but it works fine without Pressure)
- water accumulator pressure
- tender pressure

Sure I have missed a few.

Interestingly, Garmin do a tyre pressure sensor (£60 each) for use with their vehicle Sat Nav’s. Could they get it to work on their marine gear? Probably.

I think we should task Vas to come up with a custom sensor to Bluetooth to N2K system so up to say....10 pressure sensors can be viewed :)

will be a serious mod to add a car tyre valve on a tender, is there a dedicated low profile solution to that?
Still think best option will be xmas present :p

well, not quite, they don't support anything wireless in their marine kit (in terms of input I mean) and they don't seem to be v.flexible on changing things...

definitely doable, although I've been hitting on various walls regarding NMEA2000 sentences for sending various info about.
One being Garmin only do 200psi pressure for the gearbox oil (mine and I guess most shaft driven boats is up to 360...)
Another, the N2K standard does support without really supporting EGT as on the temp sentences you can only go up to 655-273 C which is not enough... Maretron does their own custom sentence supported only by their kit, so you do get into a bit of a mess.

Definitely easiest solution seems to be a v.cheap chinese sender for a tenner or so and a gauge or a black box to pass the info into N2K bus

That's not the problem. Get it to SMS you ... I'm hot, over inflated and ready to blow a seam. It never ceases to amaze me how I can inflate a tender and during the night in the water it feels limp and I start worrying about leaks and in the mid day sun the next day ready to pop.

Mini update.

M18 to 1/8 npt adapters arrived. Perfect fit in the intake manifold.

I then fitted some gauges I got ages ago. Good news is I can see both with the engine hatch up.

I'm beginning to understand why the kids keep telling me I'm NOT hip and trendy.

Have you got Spotify music app?

They do their own playlists and I found one call “yacht rock”. Lots of Genesis tracks. Obviously they know the demographic and cool level of most boat owners :)

Vas

For you to say it is a serious mod is quite something !

How are the stabs going ?

Sorry but the car tyre sensors are far more sexy!

J,

I say it's a serious mod as I wouldn't dare get a compressor for car tires near my rib, rib pressures are in the .2bar and tyres in the 2bar range, you hit the pushbutton, you're after a new rib, simples :D One should have a v. efficient and fast over-pressure bypass, wouldn't gamble...

Stabs are fine thank you :p
Not doing much as generator engine packed up, halfway between removing it from the e/r and getting it to mechanic to do a full overhaul (well full means rings, metals, seals as everything is OK)
Improved my programming and reduced the response delay, finally fixed the rolling average routine yesterday, so I think I'm okay for now.
Next project is to redo the pipework and test it again when the gen is back in place (recon two months earliest)
But it's cold, had a fair amount of work at real work, so took it easy.

Stab news after Easter I recon, before the start of the season (for me)

Farsco,

not sure these gauges are going to function in this spot for long...
Would be best if you added a nipple there, a couple of meters of tubing and then the gauge away from the heat and vibration of the engines.
Further the gauges don't look like they're filled with glycerine (or whatever that liquid is) which I'm told is necessary (don't remember why though...)

For sure you're going to find if turbos work right, like now! End of next summer, not too sure.

cheers

I agree Vas. They are just filling the hole until the valve caps arrive. Only £4 each so they defo won’t last but I was only planning on checking the boost pressures.

In the last 8 months, I’ve cleaned both intercoolers, dismantled and reassembled all the pipe work, had a new Turbo on one and had the other rebuilt so the reading will be what it will be! :)
