Fitting a subwoofer to cockpit

I am looking to fit a subwoofer in the cockpit area of my Fairline Targa 40. Can anyone offer any advice on this matter, in particular with regards placement and what steps are required to avoid rattling / resonance of the GRP wherever it is mounted?

Further, I would be interested to know if anyone has gone down the route of using a 'proper' subwoofer enclosure (e.g. thick MDF or plywood) but mounting down in the engine bay, and how effective this method has been?

hi
we have a sub in our targa 47 cockpit. its a purpose made 22m ply box mounted on rubber feet. we run it through a fusion stereo which has a fusion amp.
Signature Series 24-Volt 6-Channel Marine Amplifier
we have four fusion speakers , two on the radar arch and two on the uprights
Signature Series 3 8.8" 330-Watt Classic White Marine Speakers
with the sub, it gives such a rich deep sound, hope helps

When I was 18 I had a 3 litre Carlton……cost me 600. I spent a further 1.2k on ICE!

Was looking at another forum recently, and the big problem some where having with subs was the amount of battery drain from the amp

Easily solved, just run the engine too in the anchorage, no one will mind
