fitting a stern winch/anchor winch, can I please have photos from 45-55ft mobos?

title is relatively self explanatory...

I managed to hurt my back (again!) on a nice remote anchorage when trying to pull the boat from the shore line (to the rocks) getting the boat alligned properly to the weather at night before sleeping...
I remembered that a few years back I bought a SL anchorwinch 24V, which I could convert to a plain winch and fit at the stern.

I wouldn't mind keeping the chain gypsy (it's a vertical winch) but it's for a rather large chain which is pointless as my stern anchor is a Fortress FX11 on approx 10m of 6mm chain and then rode, hardly a thing for a 1500W winch.
Further, I've no idea how I could get a stern anchor through the hawsepipe and not mess/destroy the teak bathing platform, so I guess it's going to be a rope only thing.

Final issue is where do I fit it, at the deck level, or on top of the capping (where it would barely fit) and where I'd have to extend the shaft so that the motor would fit 500mm lower under the deck - rather complicated me thinks!

so would like some ideas of placement to help me decide the obvious :-)

cheers

V.

PS. I know ideally I should fit a manual winch on the capping and be done with, but that means buying one and keeping the SL doing bugger all

Maybe have a look at the websites for some Scandinavian power boat builders?
They all have stern anchoring down to a fine art, with all kinds of roller and winch / windlass arrangements.
Could you post a photo or two of your cockpit arrangement please for reference? I know there are lots of photos on your epic refit thread thread, but it would take a long time going through it to find them.

Not sure of how applicable the solution can be to your boat (I guess not much), but here's my answer to your question, fwiw.
Forget the metal plate with four buttons, that's for the passerelle and has nothing to see with the maneuvering winch.
Which is instead controlled by the black foot button on the corner of the cockpit floor.

sorry, not at home, not easy to find pics, found two though.
I was thinking something like what you posted P., problem is my stern is slanted hence no space for the motor as can be seen on the pics.

hence thinking of putting it on the deck between the hawsepipe (or whatever you call that) on the stern and the fixed cleat. Problem is there's not enough space to deal with the lines there (but plenty of space to fit the motor under deck :-) )

any other options, other than fitting a normal manual winch?

cheers

V. Nice setup Mark!
Doesn't help much other than confirming that I should be getting a F. if I buy a mobo ever again.
Not enough space to place it sideways either, bulwarks are only 180mm wide, minus skin/frame, less than 100mm...
