I have been advised by Hayles that I will need to cut a slot in my P bracket and epoxy a metal plate to hold a spurs cutter. I am still awaiting a reply from Ambassador. Sounds like a boat yard job with my poor DIY skills.
Has anyone had this problem and how did they fix it?

You may have to await a reply from Ambassador, as I saw him alone on his stand at the show on Wednesday.

If your P bracket is like mine on a Konsort, you only need to drill and tap two or three ( I cannot remember how many there are ), but don't drill too far, as you will penetrate the Cutless bearing slightly. The fixed part bolts onto the P bracket, whether on the side or underneath. Mine is fitted underneath the P bracket.

No slots need to be cut into the P bracket. Somewhere I have the fitting instructions, but if you are stuck, I will have a search for them.

regards,
Philip

Your\'s is a GRP P bracket?

Thanks for your quick reply. I am asking because Hayles said that drilling and bolting direct into GRP would not be strong enough to hold against the cutting forces of the spurs. I am assuming that the stripper would be similar.
Naturally I'd like to be able to drill directly into the GRP but want to make sure that the bolts will hold.

Re: Your\'s is a GRP P bracket?

My mistake in not reading your post properly.

My P bracket is an alloy metal and and not GRP. It is attached within the GRP hull to strengthening cross member.

I was assuming your P bracket was metal as well.

In this instance I would wait until the boat show is over and phone "Stripper". I have had contact with him and he is very helpful.

regards,
Philip
