My boat doesn't have either of the above. I'm guessing that gauges can be fitted but I'm wondering how big a job?

Are gauges available that would match with the rest of the gauges on the helm?

Cheers

Thanks. I had a look at that link and also Googled NMEA but none the wiser as to how that fits into a tank and where the readout is. The picture shows some kind of probe with a wire attached and assumes some level of knowledge I don't have!

Start at the beginning: what sort of boat is it, what is the existing instrumentation, and what nav electronics do you have installed?

What jimmy said :)

Nmea 2000 is a standard marine network wiring system. You can connect various compatible things to it and they can be displayed on nav kit....depending on the kit you have of course.

Thanks! I have a Raymarine C90W nav system on my Jeanneau Leader 9. The standard instrumentation is a bunch of mainly analogue dials at the helm, nothing goes through the nav.

They have a number of benefits

1. simple fit
2. accurate
3. cheap
4. And now the big one ... the display is always on - not when you turn on the engine power etc ( if you have EVC). I have mounted mine in clear site in the cockpit so everyone can see how much water we do or don't have.

Thanks so much. I have a deeply embedded fresh water tank and without dismantling the V berth there was no way to install a standard level sensor....until now, cheers
