Hi guy's i'm looking for a bit of advice,
I'm fitting a deck wash don't want to take the boat out of the water this year so I have tapped into the sea toilet inlet i'm not going to be using both at the same time lol,

The pump I got is a 5 gpm/22 lpm so my question is do I fit the pump near the inlet and run a long hose to the stern for my connection to deck hose,
Or run a long pipe from inlet to pump at stern and only have a short hose for connection to deck wash hose,

Would the pump be better on sucking the water up or pushing the water out that's the reason for my question
thanks in advance Nye

it depends on the pump type. if its a flexible impellor self priming pump (check up to what height) it will not make much difference as long as the supply pipe is rigid or reinforced so that it won't collapse under suction. If you have a fixed impellor pump (like a central heating pump) then it will need to be below the water line or it won't prime. But have I understood right you want to pump up seawater to wash the boat with ?

Yes i'm using the pump for deck wash also to feed bait tank when needed,
This is the spec http://www.seaflo.com/en/productDetail_250.html

I understand the need for seawater now. thats quite a powerful pump, I think I would mount it close to the seacock with a reinforced hose to minimise any chance of it collapsing the input hose. It won't matter if its above or below the water line as it will self prime. I'd also fit two jubilee clips on each connection just in case.

I have bought 1/2" reinforced pipe just trying to decide where to mount it
Where I keep my boat in Cardiff bay it's fresh water for washing down after ever trip,
Just wondering where would be best place to mount it,

Well just an update I fitted the deck wash just behind the bulkhead just by the inlet and run the hose to the cockpit it works great more power than I need it will spray 30ft plus,
I did a test first with the hose running from the inlet to the cockpit lost a lot of power so it seems my pump is better at pushing not pulling water.
