fishing bottie twitcher

Looked terrifying, but I wonder how much of that was the effect of the long lenses. Obviously not a trivial trip, however, the boats and visible crew seemed not to be perturbed. I expect that they knew exactly what they were doing and, so long as their vessels and equipment were in good order, considered it to be fairly standard.

Thank you very much for posting the link.

Very scary when they were sharing one wave! I did similar on a sailboard and the other board started to surf (he was lighter than me) and his skeg cut the front off my board!

Rob.

One one of the boats there is a guy on deck behind the wheelhouse so perhaps an every day thing for them. I had the feeling they were crossing a bar.

Erm, more evidence that fishermen are *usually* better seafarers than us yotties. Discuss.

No need to discuss, they are, takes me back to my days with "Fishing News" and as a previous poster wrote, though not literally an every day occurance for them, is certainly not an unusual situation. They certainly scared me more than once.

That's the Grey River, lots of vids on Utube. Notice the contraption on the port quarter. They have a stabilising paravane about the size of a manhole cover rigged on a frame to stop them rolling.

It looked to me like the guy on one of the boats had a video camera in his hand lol.... Tough little boats with even harder crew.

Is it me, or is there a lack of scale that misleads, but they seem to be taking their time over it ?

<Edit> OK, just seen the other vid and there was 10kt of tide :p
