Hi all, hope you are all well, we are and Callum is going from strength to strength.

We've sold our caravan and bought a wee But n Ben over looking a sea loch, we're doing lots of shore fishing, but want to get back on the water. We still have our 2.6m zodiac and 4hp outboard, but inflatable does not go well with fishing hooks.

Was looking for a good size fishing boat, but SWMBO would prefer one with a small cockpit at the front for Callum to shelter should the heavens open like they often do up here.

Anyone know of anything for £1k or under with trailer, we understand it'll not be prestine, but as long as it's safe sturdy and floats, it'll do us and get us back on the water.

Callum has done his PB1 with a famous instructor on here, and keeps telling me he wants a boat and can't wait to do His PB2 when old enough. ?

Cheers

Alistairr.

Ahoy there; suggest you look at Gumtree on line, her appears to be some fishing type boats up your way, cheers

Mind you having said that, two of my boat purchasers were from Scotland, and I am living in South Devon, but they were prepared to male the round trip in two days, ah well.

Look around for Seahog you might find one around with an older engine on around the 2.5k mark. I think you'll struggle to find anything seaworthy at 1k.

If you have time, and are prepared to out the work in, you could get something decent on the water for around a grand. If you want to buy 'ready to go', you might need to double that.

Hi, can't help but great to hear from you again. Btw I have no idea what a But n Ben might be, but so long as you enjoy it...

Ahooy there;
re small boat plus a trailer for £1000 = YES they are quite plentiful on Gumtree

Just looked this morning entering North Ayrshire as the area, a couple pop up, Gumtree also automatically searches an area up to 15 miles (Regions) outside your stated area; that produced about 8 boats, from a derelict 'lotsajob/time' to a 14ft hardly used stored inside a Barn, so would suggest that taking the Gumtree route is good advice for you; est of luck with both your search's and time spent up there in 'God's Land' for scenery

Blimey LJS, how many boats have you got?? (I feel a gjgm 'excessive' comment coming on...) :D

Rather embarrassed to say the current total, including tenders and 2 shared boats, is 8. I did sell one last year.............

They have all been well used, but now maybe not as much as they should be, I suspect another 2 or 3 will be sold soon. As I always tell my other half, you can never have too many boats or outboards - 6 at the moment:o

Surely I'm not unusual?:encouragement:

Eight boat. Six outboards. If that's not worth a pint of Proper Job in the Cherub, I don't know what is. Top marks. :encouragement::encouragement::encouragement:

A bit I have a few
I have my sailboat with an inflatable tender
An old hard tender for rowing
And a Double Eagle on a trailer for fishing with a 50 f stroke and 9.9 kicker for trolling
I had a Hourston with a 55 but gave it away my wife was complaining I had two many in the drive and she had no room for her car
Does my canoe count

My brother has 3 if you include the seagul 4 outboards
He lives not far from the op
One for the fish water loch and salmon
One on the sea loch for makerel
And a spare on the trailer JIk want to go somewhere else

I have tried explaining to my wife it's not the number of days I go fishing which counts

It's the number of days I could go fishing

Sometimes I tow the double eagle behind the sail boat and have the inflatable tender with me

Here you go: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132172925958
Starting price £995 with trailer and 8hp outboard. Doubt it will go for much more. It's nothing special, but would do the job and that's what you get for around a grand.

Edit: I'll take back my nothing special comment. It appears to have had lots of work done and looks to be a tidy little boat package. Outboard would need connecting to steering system, as looks to be tiller steered at present, but that's no biggie.

Hi LJS,

Yes I really Like that, I have it on watch and the auction finishes tomorrow night so might bid on it, only worry I have is buying a boat without seeing it.

There's another One in swansea if only we knew someone there who could check it out for us.

Cheers
Al.

I've bought a few boats on eBay auctions, most were very accurately described so no issue when I went to pay and pick up. If you got there and it wasn't what you expected from the description then you could simply walk away without paying.

There must be a few forumites down Swansea way, maybe start another thread?
