Hi everyone,
I am looking forward to buying my fisrt boat in the next year but would first like to gain some experience at sea. I have just completed my RYA dingy sailing part 2 and have been using it to gain basic sailing skills.
How can I get some sea experience at little expence.

thanks in advance.

This has been covered several times, and using the search facility should uncover lots of previous stuff.

Usual advice revolves around making contact with local yotclubs and asking if members are looking for crew. This isn't the best time of year to be asking though.

Yes, join a club and get involved. There are still a few "cruises in company" yet this season and you might get invited as crew. Clubs often have a "Crew List" on the notice board that you can put your name on. Try and get on a late (October) starting Day Skipper course at evening institute near you.

Welcome Seagull!

As T_Ken says, within these forums this question's been asked a number of times.

There's also a fair amount of horny-handed dismissal of the RYA, but I would add to Ken's practical experience recommendation, to do your Day Skipper theory & practicals - at the very least - then progress to Coastal Skipper hand-in-hand with expanding your experience.

Get (and read) some books if you're at all interested in taking yachting seriously - which you should do.

I'd also personally recommend an RYA Diesel "day" - the engine being cause of most lifeboat (uneccesary) call-outs.

Fair winds . . .

Where abouts in the world are you?
I'm always looking for keen crew...
Alex
