As some of you may recall I asked for some good places to stay along the river. We set off from Walton on Friday night (25June10)
Due to a late crew memeber we had to pull in and pick him up.
And then headed off to the Swan in Staines. Where we arrived to full garden of people. Never had a docking gone so smooth mind you I think everone was thinking we can not under any circustances mess this up.Had a good meal with good service retired to the bar. Unfortunaly Bar closed at 12 but booze was taken to the boat and later retired to our Rooms at the swan. I know the Swan has got mixed reviews but our experiance there was very good. The rooms were excellent. So Saturday morning arrived had a full english and headed off to Windsor.
The Mighty Shetland waking up to a glorious morning.
Getting ready for the off
The Swan's Jetty. They have applied for Planning for a new jetty unfortunatly half of it will be lost to a floating pub garden.
A rather busy Lock
A crewmember relaxing while the rest us did the bbq for lunch
Moored up at Windosr Racecourse Marina. The entrace to the Marina is something else. It feels like your entering the congo. Windosr Race course Marina is fine but very tight and our berth was realy shallow.
Had a good night out in Windosr stayed in the Mercure Hotel in the centre fortunatly air conditioned rooms temp was around 30 degrees. But not the greatest of hotels.
Getting ready for the off heading back to Walton
The Cabin boy making Bacon Sandwiches he is availble for hire.
Waiting for a Lock
Another Wait
Another BBQ
Captain Mashby at the helm (God help us)
Two Crewmembers relaxing just before we get back
So all in all a brillaint weekend met some great people, saw the sights, and relaxed.
Anyway your probaly bored to tears by now but you guys have been doing this for ages and you know how great it is.
Thanks for everyones helps and tips I certainly could not have done this without your help.
