First RYA course of the year at Brightlingsea Sailing club

Up until about a week ago we have been planning to cancel our first RYA course of the year at Brightlingsea Sailing Club because of the weather, what a difference a week makes, we had sun all weekend, gentle breezes and 9 people who all passed. Has summer arrived or were we just very lucky? I guess only time will tell!

What course were you running?

Is this what the 2 sonatas are for? They followed me out into the Colne on Friday morning.

The Sonatas are from the Colne Yacht Club, at the sailing club we run RYA Dinghy courses for adults and children, the Colne I believe are going to also be running Keel boat courses in the future.

Ahh, presumably those were the reefed dinghies out today as I was coming back in about 1400. Some of the crews looked tiny!

Yes we had two small girls (9) who went sailing for the first time, they just loved it, singing songs all day and just having the best day ever, as mentioned the weather helped but I think we have a couple more Olympic sailors in the making! Showed them once how to do a Bowline and they could tie it straight away! Kids learn so much quicker then adults!
