First post in the Thames forum, and first boat. Need advice.

Sealines usually show huge patches of Osmotic blisters, in the form of different colours showing through at the Bow area...:D:D:D

You can thank me later :o

Oh sorry Hahahahaaaaa!

I'll admit this much, we looked at that boat a month or so ago, whilst considering changing the Broom 30, but only just decided to keep ours because it's so lovely in every way.

Your Sealine was very nearly ours, it was a close run thing ;)

I did a bit of homework on it by the way, another forumite owned her, and she has no known nasties, just the usual Boat-like ongoing love and affection needed.

Once the sale is complete, as long as all goes well, we will have a maintenance schedule list I think. This way we can ensure we do all we need to at the right time. We are both average to good DIYers and not scared of hard work.
I understand it can save a huge amount of money doing some things ourselves, just have to be sensible and know our limitations.

Depending on hours:

Every two years get main engine service and all filters/through hull fittings and outdrives serviced completely, along with fluid changes on everything.. It will be lifted out, so clean and anti foul hull.
Leave out for Winter approx. 5 months.

Every other year, change oil, check or change impellers. Check other bits, but should be fine.

Works for us, in addition, every trip, the levels are checked, belts looked at, and list of simple checks done. Never had an issue, other than broken diesel pipe, which couldn't have been avoided!

Thanks for that. Hubby has bought a couple of boat maintenance books to start us off. Anything we are not sure of we can ask. Having a timeline for maintenance will keep us on track.

I have also been looking for cleaning products today. Not sure what is best though.
