Well I'm pleased to say we have finally taken charge of our new boat, new to us anyway.

Wife and eldest daughter away for the weekend, youngest daughter out with boyfriend so that left me and our dog. So I couldn't sit at home on my own with a new boat awaiting in the marina could I so I packed a sleeping bag, pillow, bottle of wine, some pasta and sauce, change of clothes, tea bags, milk and sugar and finally our dog Mia.

As I type this we are sat on our boat, a few glasses of wine down and one extremely happy chap being back to boating after many years of only wishing. First night of what I hope will be many enjoyable days on the Thames.

Some dreams do come true. Now where is that wine bottle.....

i'll try not to wake you in the morning when we chug past, i wish i had read this earlier - you could have come round for a drink!!

Enjoy the boat and the marina!

Mike

Many thanks Mike, I didn't hear you chug past which means you either have a very quiet boat or the wine was stronger than usual.

Have a great day and I look forward to meeting up for a drink at some point.

Terrific! nothing like your first night on a new boat. I feel more secure on the boat than I do at home and seem to sleep much easier.

Be prepared for the sea legs when you get back home! You will probably find your desk or armchair rocking :D

Hade a great nights sleep. Had a touch of the 'sea legs' earlier today when I visited the chandlery. Either that or the chap was swaying behind the counter lol.

Our first proper boat was a similar size to yours, and I never forget the land sickness once we got off after a two day voyage!

Don't get it any more, possibly a larger boat lessens things?

Was funny though!

I took our new boat out for the first time yesterday. Armed with a young crew consisting of my daughter and her boyfriend I gave them a run through of their duties when going through locks and I'm pleased to say we cruised to Marlow without a hitch.

The new Sealine 218 handles differently from our Freeman II we owned many years ago but I have to say I was quite pleased with my boat controlling abilities after such a long break.

Now looking forward to getting a good few days out up and down river.
