We took possession of our P36 on Friday. As you can imagine, there was much celebratory imbibing going on, especially as we had been joined by friends of ours. Needless to say, Saturday was a slow start.

After exiting our berth (with a bit of help from our lovely neighbour), we pottered around to Castle Reach and anchored up for a cup of tea. Shortly after anchoring, we were entertained by the River Patrol chasing down an errant speeding small craft. We watched the spectacle and then pulled up anchor and pootled to Watwick Bay for a BBQ.

Whilst enjoying our BBQ, I noticed we had managed to catch a Bombard Explorer…. The Explorer had not put out enough chain and had dragged and floated off in the bay. Fortunately for the man frantically swimming after his Explorer, it managed to snag on our anchor chain.

After our lovely BBQ, we packed up and decided to go explore the next bay on from Watwick. Low and behold, as we turned the corner, we were waived down by the Bombard Explorer. He had lost steerage and had managed to grab onto a lobster pot and tie on. After some superb manoeuvering by Mr Shan, the Explorer was retrieved and a tow line was rigged up by our friend Mr Cruise. The ‘refugees’ were then towed to Dale and deposited safely on the pontoon.

After our rescue antics, it was agreed that the boys had earned themselves a restorative beverage, so we all proceeded to order our various vices from The Griffin. As it was so busy inside, we took our drinks and leaned over the wall peering at the bay and would you believe it but the Bombard Explorer brothers were in trouble… again… Mr Bombard Explorer was reversing his car down the slip way to retrieve his rib, whilst Mr Bombard Explorer’s brother was tasked with positioning the trailer on the slipway. It was at this point, that he discovered the point on the brake on the trailer…. Having not applied the brake and of course not ensuring the trailer was attached to the car, he proceeded to watch his trailer drifting down the slipway and slowly disappearing beneath the water. This new drama provided about an hour of entertainment as Mr Bombard Explorer proceeded to try and find the trailer by swimming along the projected track of the slipway. Eventually, they decided to try and trawl for the trailer using a line attached to a tender. After much faffing, the trailer was found but unfortunately, it got stuck upside down on the side of the slipway. I’m not sure how the Bombard Explorer brothers retrieved the trailer but it was gone by morning.

All in all, a rather exciting first weekend… let’s hope the next one is quieter!:o

Yes, I'm pretty certain we have provided sufficient entertainment over the years.... including towing a boat through Brentford High street.... twice...

Sounds an entertaining first weekend but not as entertaining as Mr Bombards!

Enjoy many such weekends :encouragement:
