From QHM:
at approximately 1900 on Friday 28 October 2005 a pyrotechnic display will take place from a barge (BT1) located 100 metres west of the outer pontoon of Gunwharf Quays. In less than favourable wind conditions the barge will be positioned a further 100 metres out from the pontoons. It is expected that the firework Display will last approximately 12 minutes, starting at 1902 and completing by 1920.
2. Mariners are warned that, for safety reasons, the Harbour will be closed during the display from approximately 1900 to 1925 with a 300-metre exclusion zone established around the pyrotechnic barge’s position. The perimeter of this exclusion zone will be patrolled by two launches from the Ministry of Defence Police. Four RIBs of the Volunteer Harbour Patrol will also be present for marshalling duties.

Anybody going to watch it from their boat ? Depends on weather of course, but SWMBO likes fireworks ao may well take the opportunity to check how deep the bird poo is on the cabin roof!

The quote was directly from QHM so either they have it wrong (most likely) or somebody moved the date for the trafalgar celebrations!

It would be pretty short notice for the 21st! There is a firework display in Southsea on 21st though. See LNTM 48/05

I have to say I am now confused ! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif The LNTM you quoted is only for the beacon, which I knew about.

It seems odd that the fireworks are a week later.

ALso South Today have been talking about the fireworks all this week.

SOmebody seems to have cocked up - maybe its me having misunderstood but I bet I am not the only one!

You didnt read far enough down the quoted LNTM: Another smaller Beacon will be lit at Kings Bastion, opposite Governor’s Green, Southsea at 1852. This will be preceded by a short firework display, starting at 1846

I am also guilty of the same offence cause I read the original without noticing the difference in dates.

Portsmouth dockyard is holding quite a few events during the week to coincide with half term - firework display (Ithink) will be culmination of end of "Trafalgar Week"
