Hi,
I am in the final process of coding a small fishing boat, the surveyor comes next week to check.
One thing I have overlooked until now is I need to fireproof the engine water pipes.
Is there a cheaper way of doing this and staying within the specs of the code other than replacing all the pipes please?

Thanks for that, wonder why my Google search didn't find it.
Does anyone know if the ally tape is permissible? Or does it need 'writing' on to tick his boxes, don't want him to come back again.

I find this amazing.

Didn't anyone else boil water over a Bunsen burner in a paper cup? How hot would a fire need to be to burn a hose cooled by water?

You're making the fatal mistake of trying to apply logic to a jobsworth's requirement.

Well, I was wondering. Wouldn't you think that legal requirements & technical safety needs would be designed by someone who knew what they were doing?

If the fire was hot enough to melt hoses I wouldn't be messing about with the engine, I would be rowing rapidly away in the tender.

But can you boil water in a styrofoam cup?
