Fire extinguishers - mixing systems?

At present, I have FM200 based engine room protection. It is due for servicing or replacement shortly.

Having taken advice and studied the form, I am persuaded that Novec 1230 is the best way ahead.

However, I am wondering whether to leave the FM200 system in situ even once the Novec system is installed. The FM200 kit would be there purely as a manually-operated redundant system in case the Novec system were to be deployed (either automatically or manually) but a fire restarted. Naturally, the likelihood is very low of this being necessary, and removing the existing system is no trouble - but equally, it won't cost me anything to leave the old system in place "just in case".

Any dangers in mixing the two components? Anything else I should think of?

What make is the FM200 system?
It was a bespoke system by a company which no longer exists. It is independent of everything else (so don't be confused into thinking it is a Sea-Fire system or anything like that which interacts with the engines).

We have a firetrace system which covers the engine room, with the extinguishing unit in the lazerette, this is augmented by two auto extinguishers in the engine room covering the area where the battery box and battery isolators are. All are FM200 with further FM200 auto extinguishers in the lazerette covering the generator, plus numerous (6) manual extinguishers covering all other areas of the boat.

The two mediums work in different ways. One pyrolises and smothers the flame, the other cools it rapidly. I doubt very much having the two would present anything like the problem they are both trying to deal with. If the cylinder matches its marked weight and is in reasonable condition I would keep the FM200 (HFC 227EA).
