Fire extinguisher service life

It is my understanding a single extinguisher should be provided capable of dealing with the volume of the entire engine bay . Two smaller extinguishers do not necessarily offer the same protection as only one may go off and the fire might not be smothered.
Perhaps this is why the two extinguishers were discarded ?

I have looked up the air volume these units will cover and at 1.5kg they will individually protect 2.1m3 volume, which without a tape measure I would say is easily enough for my engine bay, so having two is doubling up on that.

It does say in the website I looked at that there should be an automatic engine shut down system. I don't have that but do have remote wire cable operated fuel supply shut off valves, which I installed outside the engine room last Winter when I added some decent Racor style pre filters to replace the useless original fit units.

It would be simple to fit wire pulls around the auto fire glass tubes to make the system auto / manual, but having a proper means of preventing accidental operation would be a necessity.
