I've recently bought a finnmaster 6100 with a Honda 135 4stroke. Great boat but when getting onto the plane the boat leans significantly to port and also pitch's quite badly. Weight is evenly distributed and we don't have trim tabs. To offset the tilt I trim the engine up but this then impacts steering. I'm looking for some potential answers or for the benefits of fitting trim tabs. Any help gratefully received.

Hi David,

I have a Finnmaster 61CA, (same hull as the your 6100), fitted with a Honda 135hp outboard, but mine is fitted with Bennett trim tabs with the Bennett auto trim controller.

Like you, I found that the boat pitches when coming onto the plane, however, careful trimming the engine does improve this, but when I activate the trim tabs, this pitching disappears, and the auto controller certainly helps to balance the boat.

So, from my experience, I can recommend the Bennett trim tabs.

I agree that the 61CA is a great boat, and has amazing cabin space for a 6m boat!

Cheers, Allan

Hi Allan

Many thanks for the response. I thought tabs were the way to go but thought it was worth asking. If you don't mind the ask can you let me know what size you have fitted.

Thanks.

Hi David,

Not sure of the size offhand, but I'll measure the tabs when I'm next down at the boat, which may be in a couple of days.

Cheers, Allan
