Generally if I stare at something for long enough, maybe spread over weeks, I can find a solution.

Not this time though.

I have a deck hatch that sits on a raised rectangular part of the deck. The deckhead is finished with vinyl foam backed on plywood panels up to the hatch surround. As the deck upstand is a couple of inches high, there is a discontinuity in the below deck surface. I have hardwood infills to level this discontinuity but I still have to find a cosmetically acceptable solution to cover them.

Mine cannot be a unique problem. How have others solved this problem please?

This is how mine is done. Ignore the curtain wires, now removed. The trim is fixed as four separate sides due to the angles involved. All screw holes are plugged. The corners are mitred.

I am about to fit a new hatch and new headlining in the forepeak as soon as I can dry stuff out and/or keep a tarpaulin on for a full week - so thanks.
