99 days after starting my renovation project for Discovery Channel, we eventually shot the launch of my 1936 Sharpie on Tuesday. There was barely any wind but we had a nice potter around the Thames at Twickenham. In the race to get the rigging completed, I still have a few bits to seal and 4 more coats of varnish but these crap photos will give you an idea. The original builder was there to give her a send-off.

Its his poor boat thats been so neglected since he decided to take on the project .
He cant even make it up river to see his mates!
Looks nice and i cant wait to have a go in it , well done pal .

Nice job. It's heartbreaking to actually put them in the water isn't it?
I found a slightly windless day ideal to get sorted and get my bearings. You'll find you always want to put more coats of varnish on.

It'll be out in November. The working title is 'Boatyard' with 5 different boats being renovated in 4 months.

Well done Gordon.

Glad to see she has now made the water.

Perhaps the enforced timescale was a help rather than the chain around your neck it must have sometimes seemed like.

Hope you enjoy sailing her.

Cheers

Iain

Thanks Iain.

I've got to say that I was a bit daunted by your sail but with barely a breath of wind, we needed every inch of it.

As for the timescale, I suppose you're right but I'm still recovering. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Would love to.............when??

I've been greedily eyeing up a wayfarer for sale down in dorset. Even spent a day lording it over all the powerboats in the harbour. Just got to wait and see if they'll accept my offer.

So you going to sell or keep it?
