Well trying to sell my boat and the trailer has been letting it down big time. Mudguards rotted through, the hitch end the last half a meter was rotten through. One suspension unit had died a long time ago... other one is suprisingly fine. So headed down to Ambrow Trailers on barret road and spent two hours there chatting to them, I must say what a brilliant and freindly bunch they are. And the prices wow! Blooody brilliant I must say. Anyway enough of that. After the long chat I went home got the angle grinder out, got the jack out and some bricks, socket set etc. Took wheel off and then had to cut through bolts on suspension unit and wow was it rotten! The next thing I did was cut the whole front end off. Got some smaller box section pushed it in about half/three quarters of a meter. Leaving about a meter sticking out. Bolted it in place (also it was a very tight fit so no play). Got some U bolts and bolted winch mech down onto spine. Added benefit of what I have done is now the whole thing is adjustable for different size boats as you can move the winch either way for about half a meter each way. Then sanded the whole thing down and repainted it, fitted new mudguards. And I am very very very happy with the result!
