I was draining a smidgin of water from my fuel separator, into a small cup. After unscrewing the tap, barely a drop came out, so of course, I kept unscrewing and unscrewing until the whole tap fell out and the fuel was gushing. The small cup was quickly filled, before I got my finger over the hole.

I then, one handed, proceeded to to use a brush, just within reach, to then pull a bag toward me containing an empty water bottle, which I then held between my knees and using my handy one-handed-opening pocket knife (in my back pocket, fortunately) to cut the top off the bottle and place it under the separator instead of the small cup. All this while my finger was in the hole.

I eventually got the screw tap back in (6th attempt!), by which time the 1 litre water bottle was full. Of course, Sod's Law, not a soul within shouting distance.....

No fuel shut off tap indeed! Not unless I just can't see it, but bearing in mind I could only just reach the separator......

From the McGyver School of Heath Robinson -

1: With one finger on the hole, peel off your jumper/shirt/jacket over your head and down the arm with the finger on the hole. Peel off wrist and over finger, wrapping tightly before removing finger and tighten down. Now rush to bleed nipple, retrieve and replace before puddle under radiator gets too big, clean and mop before Herself gets back...

2: Take off plastic top of pen and screw into hole, using bleed nipple threads as die for the cap, water acting as lubricant....clean and mop before Herself gets back...
