Ummagumma was finally launched today after a very long order and build - but it was worth the wait. Awoke to pouring rain and big gusts but by launch time it was sunny and the sea was calm. I managed to get on for the very first test run which was a lovely thing to be able to do, she performed exactly as expected - hand over on Monday and I can't wait! Very excited and poor now.

Matt (finally) of Ummagumma

Sorry - really useless post by me. Ummagumma is a Hunton 43. I'm afraid I don't know how to do pictures but if someone can direct me to a guide I'll give it a go, I was snapping during all the excitement.

all the best,

Matt

Pictures please!!!

I love the RS43 from Hunton. I think they have the perfect balance of performance and usable cabin room. OK, a weekend cottage she isnt but just that bit more practicle than a Superhawk 43.

No need to rush out and buy a gold medalion either /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

hope you all have lots of fun together and sunshine.

(Good luck with the amphibians too... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

Ummagumma - 1969 Pink Floyd album. Could be said to be a step away from "The Pink Floyd" - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn/Saucerful of Secrets towards the non-hippy classic period Floyd of Dark Side of the Moon/Wish You Were Here.

Sorry, I'll get my coat. Oh yes, Congrats OP on a great boat.

If you scrunch your eyes up realy tight and stand at least ten feet away from the picture wearing dark sunglasses then I think it looks like my squeeker 34!
Yup dream on Rob!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ive been out on the 37 and 43. Fantastic boats. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif What a grin factor.

It was on rails.

Bit of a story. I was on a sea trial with my father bumping over fast ferry wash having a great time. The sales guy an I were stood at the 2 front bolsters seats, dad behind hanging on the the back of the chair. Sales guy leans over to talk (we're doing about 40knts). Hang on he says i'll show you how well it turns. I smile at my dad to make sure he heard. He had. Without slowing down he cranks the boat over and does a u turn on a sixpence.
Wow I thought. I laugh look at the sales guy who's smiling away. I then turn and to smile at my dad.
You know when you look expecting someone to be just there and there not. I was confused for a moment. Then looked on the floor. Curled up in a heap was my father. Laughing his head off. He just couldn't hold on. We still laugh about that to this day.

They are on my wish list. Nearly bought a 37 few years ago but I was told I had to have something more pratical. (women) they know nothing. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Congratulations; what a fabulous boat - though your previous one wasn't that bad, either.

I like the name, but make sure you have several species of small furry animals on board. Oh - and a Pict. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Interesting stories behind ummagumma

Now there is a graphic I could live with- wonder why SWMBO never suggested it!

cheers,

Matt

Re: First pictures

I said I'd post pictures of the new boat for Xenopus - here they are:

Looks lovely - can't wait to go out on her next week! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

oh and "Granchester meadows" and "Serveral species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave grooving with a pict"

god showing me age here

Very boring I'm afraid - I had high performance in my last one and the re-builds got expensive so these are D6 370s and DPH. Managed 45 kts on first run though and acceleration is very impressive, I tested a couple with the D6 350 set up and found them really good. 3 mpg at 32 kts too!

cheers,

Matt
