Well first and foremost congratulations!
What we forumites are dying to know is the middle bit since your "War and Peace" bit about your foiled attempt to buy.
If I remember rightly relations between the two of you were distinctly cool - and you were left with a few more airtickets than you needed.
So come on, fill in the missing bits between getting back on a plane boatless a few weeks ago and today's announcement.
- oh and can I register my interest in the film rights - I can see the TV series now "TCM's Way!"

well, i spose i realised i wanted the boat. And also due to nitwit broker i had his email.
I initially thort i wd tellim "what for" in an email...but then thort no, i will just be disappointed in an email... and see what happens. Cos i wanted the boat.
Very strange then - he wanted to sell (tho not desperate) and i wanted to buy (tho likewise not desperate) and i pointed this out a few times. Workwise we were both used to bosh bash sales or purchases - but here, neither had the whip hand.
So we agreed a fair price, a bit lower than previously, and discussed the deal at length, where to do the transaction, i tested the bank transfer by sending him a fiver, timing regarding his friemnds on board, and so on, it was all done by email, praps two or more emails a day for sevral weeks, no phones.
We included the factory and my bank in some email chats, and friends helped me with translations to/from french (thanks again to them) so both felt comfortable that yes, i would buy and yes, he would sell. We'd already proven that we (or at least i) could just do without the deal and leave it - tho the boat apeared on lots of other broker sites too. He took quite a bit of convincing that i did have the spare tickets to return to caribbee anyway, but we got there.
Once arrived in st mart we then had two days going thru the boat and i have to say it is extraordinarily well equipped with spares, more spares, tools, more tools. It even has a low-pressure dive thing. I snokerkelled under the boat and yep, not a mark on the hull tho it needs a quick scrape at anchor.
Not often after close inspection that heh, really the price had to go up a bit so i agreed another thousand or so for him leaving all cooking and bedding and full fuel and binos and gps etc etc.
And then i helped him off the pontoon to the airport. He's done his sailing thing, and now he's back in oz after being away since september and on board since end october.

So now we know........ and the moral in the story is "don't cut off your nose to spite your face" - which you didn't!
So what next? Are you going to sail out in the Caribbean now or bring it back to civilisation (!)
I don't have any experience of Cats except the small Sharks and they showed a fair turn of speed once you got the weather hull out of the water.
I have always been very nervous of buying a cat simply because when you have two of something you can't help but compare.
The next thing you know you are worrying is this one slightly bigger than that, does this one hang lower than the other one and so on and so forth...........
Ah well having planted the seed I shall stand back to see if it grows.
Hope you thoroughly enjoy the transition from Mobo and have many thousands of happy peaceful miles in front of you.
