I understand EXACTLY what you mean.I once put my first boat, a Fourwinns 195 sundowner into a place called Grendon Lakes near where they build Aston Martins. We camped there over the weekend and first thing in the morning I went out for a ski on what was a sheet of glass. We warmed the boat up then set off. I can still hear the zing from the ski as it cut through the water.
I began waterskiing behind a 20' Mostes of a friend of mine, within an extremely enclosed bay in the northern part of Lake Como (known as Lake Piona, as if it were a separate lake, though it isn't), and I can still feel the emotion now, as I'm typing.
Several years later, some Germans with two boats thought that it was a good idea to waterski in that very same bay, with one boat pulling the skier and the second following.
You can easily guess what happened. And since that poor chap died, in that bay they restricted mobos to idle speed - how silly is that?
Needless to say, there were other accidents afterwards, more or less similar, in the open and wider part of the main lake... :ambivalence:
