My Hunter 701 is now happily sitting in Seaport Marina Inverness after waiting nearly a year to bring it up from North Wales

Quite happy with the boat, only managed to motor it from Caley Marine were it was slid into the water, through the lock flight and bridge and then easily into the berth

Needs some additional work doing, BSS certificate and a new outboard as I can't get use to swinging it round to reverse, so new 4 stroke on the shopping list

Really only been used to powerboats, so the sail boat is a new learning curve for me, nice to be able to single hand when available as well

The boat was well raced by the previous owner and has won quite a few races, now it will be trundled up and down the canal until I get used to the boat

Only downside, the standing room is pretty low, but for two people, it has quite a bit of space for its 24ft.

Anyone else up north?

Regards and pics

Looks like a fine wee boat. You'll have loads of fun in her on the canal, but get her out into the Furry Mirth and have some real fun! Sailing is easy. Im glad youve seen the light. Boating wont be boring for you any more, theres always a rope to tweak!

I'm up in Wick in Caithness, and have an E-Boat and a Hillyard 2.5T that used to be on the Caledonian canals years ago.

Thanks, been pointed out it is similar to the anderson 22, so will concentrate my research there, need to refurb standing rigging and create better creature comforts below

Should be manageable to learn sailing in. Just the safety certificate to contend with.

Will definately be going the other way in to the Furry Mirth, actually easier because only the sea locks to contend with.

At least the lock keepers are the friendliest group of guys I have met. Inspired confidence in the boat.
