Interesting PYB. So are you saying there is no other boat in the 22-24 m segment that built 115? Only squadron 78?

That was my point really. 115 of a model in this size range is a helluva big number

115 boats since 2002. Thats one hell of a production run for such a large boat. Well done to Fairline and all good fortune for the new facility at Hythe

Anyone know of any boats of similar size that have had a similar length of production run? The San Lorenzo SL72 comes to mind but nothing else I can think of

Although not the same size, the Fleming 55 has been in production since 1986. By 2014, the production run had reached 235 which, according to their website, makes it "...one of the most successful production yachts in history."

:encouragement::encouragement:
Yes in that size bracket maybe only Azi 55 beats 235

AFAIK
Azimut sold 400 plus of 55 in nine year production run.
Fairline 58 Squadron was 200 plus.
Another good seller in this size was the Aicon 56 which sold a 100 plus units.

It is obvious this is a different size to a 22-24 meter 74-78 Squadron.
A bit smaller model which came to the that number was the Azimut 68 Plus and then 68 Evolution which sold 100 plus in an eight/nine year production run.
It was also a full production boat with very little of customization offered.

Re numbers built, the Hatteras yachts on the other side of the Atlantic are still way behind the Azimuts, however their Hatteras 65 Sportsfisherman is claimed to be the 'best selling big convertible ever produced' with 120 having being built.

There are probably also phenomenal amounts of Sea Rays and Bayliners in the smaller sizes, but nothing to compare with the Hatterai and Fairlines in the larger sizes.

I think the fact that this is 'news' is testament to the affection that people have for some of Fairline's boats (or to be less generous, an indication of how much life they manage to wring out of their models)!

I hope it's successor will be just as successful. Having seen early renderings, it will certainly be a thing of beauty and I hope we might see another one of JFM's epic build threads!

Just out of interest Pete, you being our inside man at Fairline, what new models are they coming out with bigger than the newer Sq64 assuming the Sq65 is canned soon?

Hang on M, in this thread we already heard that jfm loves the Ferretti 920, and now your good self making subtle questions about FL plans for a 70 footer... What's the world coming to?!

Its turning upside down. But they have Mancini now so M can be sort of understood. For M I think the 630 fits like a glove, but you know sometimes you just do not know how to stop and buy yourself a new present.
I have a similar addiction on Harleys atm need to change it every year or so, do not understand why.

Actually you are right. Yesterday we arrived on our F630 for the first time this year after 5 months of not seeing her. The guardiennage people had done a great job keeping her smart during the winter and both my SWMBO and I said to each other this boat is perfect for us so why are we considering changing? Then today we cycled around the marina checking out all the SLs and Ferrettis. Sometimes you cant help yourself. My SWMBO says that if ever I stop changing boats/cars/motorbikes then I might start to think about changing her so it is better I continue;)

I didnt know you were into bikes. Are there good riding roads in Malta?

Curiosity only;)

Ah you for forgot that bit when we meet in Spezia, and we spoke about your GS, and you had a friend who had the big Victory etc.
Did you eventually do the bike trip from England to SoF? I know you where very keen about it when we meet in September 2016.

Malta is small but we have a few bits and peaces of nice roads. The good thing is that here riding is nearly all year round and Sicily, there is a lot to rider there.

And to Sicily Valletta - Pozzallo we have a daily fast catamaran service which takes only two hours to arrive.

I just have been there and did the Capo D'Orlando area with nice twisties and Eolian islands in the background. For me loving those islands it was special.

Sorry to the others for the OT!

Sorry PYB it had slipped my mind. The perils of old age and alcohol. Actually I have done 2 bike tours through the Alps to Antibes now, one in 2016 and one in 2017, both with friends including Jimmy from this forum. And yes my friend with the Victory Vision did it too. However, unlike the others, I am not a real biker because I had my bike delivered to Geneva by truck before the start of each tour! I cant be bothered to ride the long trip south from the UK on the autoroutes.

I have heard that Sicily has some good riding roads so I am pleased you can get there by ferry easily
