I have laid a sapele deck in the aft cockpit in exactly the same way as if it were teak. After caulking this weekend, what is the best coating to apply to protect it? Its under a full enclosure 99% of the time so generally dry and fairly UV protected.

The guys on these threads recommended Sikkens Cetol to me about a year ago for my toe rails and hand holds and I think it is great. You can buy it in different tints: I think there may be a teak tint? In Australia we can buy Cetol to paint your outdoor furniture and for 50% more in price you can get "Marine" Cetol.

Let's see what the other guys say.

You might just leave it bare if it is not exposed to weather. However if you want a sheen non slip finish, then suggest using Ronseal floor varnish or similar. That is what I use on teak and holly on the floor of a non self draining cockpit always under cover when boat is not in use.
