Any suggestions on the best way to clean my filthy white fenders. Oh and my inflatable tenders looking a bit grimey as well. Maybe same product for both.

haydn. He'll, try to sell you some stuff. but just make him clean them first, then promise you'll buy some stuff later. I understand tcm provides a similar service

£1.99 will do the job nicely

Flash Mark & Stain Remover pads from Sainsbury's are briliant at this and GRP (streaks) and leatherette and deck boards.

Seriously! - just wet the foam pad from a bucket (no chemicals or cleaners at all) and rub lightly....gone! every mark, gone!

There are two small white foam pads in a pack. They start to disintegrate after about 5 minutes continuous use, and they have no smell to them and no chemical warning and no gloves required. Also, they are completely non-abrasive!

When you squeeze them out into the water, the dirt they collect goes back into the water from the sponge.

Try them you will be amazed!

ah yes.

What you do is clean the fenders with fairy, then clean the fenders with boat remover whuich is better.

The fenders still look old so you buy fender socks.

After a while the fender sox look manky so you buy new fendersox and keep the others as sort of spare, or perhaps for mopping things up.

Then the new fendersox go a bit poxy in the sunshine etc so you get some blue coloured fenders which look great, and keep the fendersox and old fenders and the old fendersox all as sort-of spares for winter or for unklikely fender-based emergencies such as, er um perhaps failing an MOB practise between 6 and 8 times and saying oh forget that one, let's try another.

........and that is why I have 43 fenders for a 28ft boat! I do try and clean them but find it easier to buy more. Used to buy new fender socks then realised new fenders were not much more. One day will have a boat big enough to use them all.

I tried several of the so called fender cleaners. The only one that really worked and also cleaned the tender was, "Fender Fresh". Which we refer to as 'Fem-Fresh'. I bought it at Pumpkin Marine at Northney and haven't found it again since they closed down, but it was effective! The Flash pads as mentioned above were also good but they break up a bit too quickly for my liking and therefore would be a bit expensive for the tender.

Have you tried white Cif? You'll be amazed. Use a protector afterwards to ensure the surface is sealed. I believe its very mildly abrasive, not that one really notices, but it'll be time for new fenders before its a real problem provided you use a sealer.
