Have you thought about TAPPEX inserts. Here you put a tappex insert in the hole and use a machine screw for the fixing. Details here: http://www.tappex.co.uk/index.aspx

Starbrite do a great little epoxy putty stick a bit like a rolled swiss log.

You just cut a slice off, rub in in your fingers till mixed and press into the hole. I works great for poppers that have pulled out of gelcoat and is set in less than a hour ready for drilling.

If it is hidden then this is a great option.
