Filling Camping Gas 907 cylinders

I used to have an LPG car. What stopped me over filling the tanks at the gas station? Would a pressure relief valve have started letting it out?

You can't overfill an LPG tank in a car. The delivery pump will cut out when the pressure in the free space gets to a certain level.

I have no knowledge of how car LPG storage systems work, but a simple solution would be to have the fill point below the top of the tank, which will leave a gas space above the liquid once the pressure from the fill tank / pump equals the car's tank.

I am surprised how blasé so many are with the idea of decanting LPG. I fully agree Camping Gaz is a rip off, but unless you know (i.e. have been trained) how to transfer LPG it is something IMHO you should not try to teach yourself.

The float-controlled 80% cut-off within the tank (or refillable gas bottle) should operate well before that stage. Without this cut-off the pump will only stop at a later stage, hence the danger in refilling 'non-refillable' cylinders at an LPG pump, as they will be over-filled (without manual intervention).

I would agree that those who can't understand and control the transferring of liquid by gravity from one vessel to another in a closed system perhaps shouldn't embark upon this process.

Do Calor fill Camping Gaz in Uk? - My local Calor filling station(nr Bury St Edmunds - I assume it's a filling/storage area as there are hundreds of cylinders there as well as Camping Gaz cylinders). Does any one know for sure?

I came across this article on refilling 907 cylinders. (Please no comment on the safety aspects)

Clearly he has had success using it and lists the parts (now not all obtainable from that supplier).

However, as I understand it, the adapter used has a one way valve which should not allow this to be done. Can anyone clarify please. Possibly, one way valves are a recent addition to the Camping gas adapter as the article dates back 4+years.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a suitable adapter for filling the CG 907 cylinder.

I know someone who refills his own 907's from a bigger cheaper gas cylinder. He's worked it out at around £6 a refil after the kit is bought.
