That'll be the aft engine room or AMR of a Type 42 then - been there and got the t-shirt, but you didn't go below without fully sleeved overalls no matter what the task was. 38oC would be distinctly chilly on the older steamships !

blimey, did you do GRP works on these boats then T? :p
I'm afraid I usually work wearing a pair of shorts and shoes, cannot even stand a t-shirt on these temps although I was born and brought up down here (my best was the 12yrs I lived in Avon with nice cool temps throughout the year...).
I know it's not v. professional but it's different getting down an awfully hot engine room for a particular task to living and trying to work at these temps.
