Hi All,

Does anyone have any info about the Fibre Classics Jersey 30? I have seen the video on MBM which gives us a small intro, and I'm really interested. I was unable to go to the boat show though :-(

Strangely, I have tried without success to find any detailed info about the boat. It's a new company, launching their first boat, so where is there internet presence? Surely it's pretty standard to have a fancy website nowadays? I can't even find a contact phone number!

Anyone have any specs for the Jersey 30?

Thanks.

Their website is not very well optimised for search engines, the home page only has one reference to 'Fibre Classics' in the copyright text at the bottom of page. The Fibre Classics text at the top of the page is an image with no Alt tag, so the search engines can't tell what it is. They should expand text on the home page for the benefit of visitors and search engines.

Links from forums like this will help boost it in the search engines, but they need to improve their website.

I had a quick look at the boat show, seems a nice boat.

Andre

This is a relatively new company, although John has been building boats or many years.
I bought one of his flybridge boats for home completion a few years back and can personally recommend him.
John and his wife turn out a top quality product and will assist you all the way along the process from supplying mouldings only, to completed boats fully fitted with whatever you specify.
Alternatively they will supply everything at fantastic prices, and are always willing to give advice and assistance.
There is no limit to their help and they are totally genuine and honest people to deal with. Seldom in business do you meet people who turn out to be as straight as you would like them to be, but these two really are gems. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
The Jersey 30 started as the Guernsey 28, and John bought the mould tools and production rights to it and its bigger brother which I believe was the Guernsey 34, from the liquidators of Sealine when they went down the pan.
They have further refined what was a fantastic design and I reckon they will do very well with it. You can spec it as high as you want and John will build it!
Call me on 07977263778 or email me on billdoran@virgin.net and I will give you his phone number. I wouldnt want to give it out on a public forum without his permission.
Happy Boating.

Very pretty boat, and launched just a the right time when people are becoming interested again in classic designs.

But the web site is terrible.
Where are the performance specs?
Where is the price?
Where are the details of the company?
Where are photo's of the manufacturing facilities?
Where are the Bio's of the directors?

...err Pinkpanter,

Just a little tip for future reference.
This forum is a cynical lot, and might wonder if you are connected in anyway to the manufacturer?:p

I fully agree with the comments made by pink panther. I purchased the Jersey 30 which was on display at the London Boat show and am highly delighted with my new craft. Jon and Julia from Fibre Classics have offered a superb helpful service which has made buying a boat from them a truly enjoyable experience. I certainly would not hesitate to recommend them.

No not connected in any way other than I was a customer of their previous company and bought a flybridge cruiser from them. Dealing with them was a total pleasure and I would now class them a friends, as I am sure the majority of their customers would too.
See the reply from the guy that bought the boat from this years boat show, and you will see what I mean.
Anybody seriously looking for this class of boat would be foolish to not give them a call.
OK so maybe they haven't forked out thousands on a fancy website full of B......t but that means they dont have to rob you to pay for it! They put their efforts into the boats instead..
What John doesnt know about Fibreglass boats and quality fitting out isnt worth knowing, and his ability to 'Bespoke' build anything you choose to 'Spec' for your boat is amazing.

I wish them every success, it's a lovely boat and deserves to do well.

Re. the web site.
When buying from a new company people want to be reassured that the business is genuine, if it's an unknown quantity.
In other words people like to see the set up, ie photo's.

MOST IMPORTANT: where is this business located?
Suggest some photo's of the shed, the staff, a boat being built etc...
The specs should be on the site without having to download a brochure.
PERFORMANCE DATA......
Basic price of the boat.

After reading the site I'm left in the dark about even the basic questions of: where, how much, how fast, Mpg........etc.

SWMBO saw this on last months MBY and asked what it was and said how lovely it looked!

would like to see them a little closer at one of the shows this year.

good looking boats for sure

I would be interested to know how much you paid, and how that compares with a mass produced boat like a MF 925 or Antares?

For the money I believe the standard specification to be very high with equipment supplied by Vetus, however the choice of engine size obviously alters price. I suggest you have a word with Jon Collins the builder on 07854 009980 or email - sales@fibreclassics.co.uk.

....I've got a funny feeling we need the Dragon's Den panel to review this business plan!!!!

a new jersey 30 is a bit steep for us at the moment and there doesn't seem to be too many Guernsey 28s around either.... so what are the alternatives for this kind of boat?

Dutchy 27 doesn't seem to have the same interior space. channel island 32? some of the smaller nelsons? hardy?

I spoke to them at length at the Southampton Boat Show as I liked the look. They were formerly Blackwater Yachts if you remember them, again nice design, very reasonable cost...before they went belly up. Unfortunately the fit out quality of the boat at SBS was shocking, but I am sure hands on attention from a future owner would avoid that, I understand they were rushing to get a boat ready. I agree with the comments about the web site. I fear this could be yet another small boutbuilder of excellent craft that will go under because they fail to realise the importance of sales and marketing to keep a steady flow of interest. It has happened plenty of times before .

Yes we did build Blackwater Motor Yachts with great success ,we produced 4 models and sold over 12 boats all over Europe in a short period of time. This was during
the time of one of the worlds biggest recessions. We didn't go belly up as you quoted, we received a good offer on tools and decided to sell. We then concentrated
on other projects within the industry, mould tool making and building . However you are right as I told you at the show the boat was not quite finished, and will be going back to our work shop to be completed.
Our boats are built to a very high standard by myself and my boat building team. We take great care and pride in our boats, yes we are a small company and we don't try
to offer sunseeker interiors , we offer fantastic value and a strong boat hence it weighs over 4 ton for a 30ft , we had an extremely good show walking away
with a new build order plus working on half dozen more , we will be at London show with the new Jersey 36 fitted with a pair of 250hp Vetus diesels, and the Jersey 30 as well
We are proud to bring two New boat models to London Show January 2015. Great achievement I believe ,as we are small independent UK builder .

Met the owners at the show nice boat a few niggles to be ironed out rough edges here and there could do with some woOd panel upgrades but overall very nice boat and very good price a little over a hundred grand i think they said dont expect fancy workshops on posh premises as you will be dissapointed we just build good boats at right price which in all fairness is what we all want so good luck to them, nice people

that is indeed a great achievement and your pride is certainly justified. Certainly a gap in the market in well priced British wheelhouse boats, the market is has always been flooded with planing hulled boats from the States and folk wanting those type of boats have a vast choice it seems. British built wheelhouse / all weather / shaft drive / semi displacement boats tend to be priced at a premium (Dutchy / Hardy / Seward / Broom), if you want to spend less you have to go French but some folk (like me TBH) would prefer to go for something British & a little more bespoke than mass produced, nice to see a company bucking the trend and selling boats. I did have a look at the show boat at SIBS, I was disappointed at the fit & finish, but I see now it was not quite finished - (something that its best to point out to people at the time). I wish you well.
