Fiberglass Sail battens a warning

Every year I take my battens out I get tiny slivers of fibre glass in my hands, and every year I forget it will hapen.

So if you are about to decommision your boat and like me have fibre glass battens don't forget your gloves.

Try putting a layer of tape up each side, it should still remain flexible, but wont hurt your pandies anymore.

Varnish them. Three coats will do. and then you'll be errant fibre free and so will your sails.

great idea, many thanks I did think about epoxy but varnish sounds a much better idea.
